PENSACOLA, Fla. --
Brian Hoar and his Rick Paya-led RPM Racing Engines team have qualified for Sunday’s 47th Annual Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Florida.

The Williston, Vt., driver was the 55th car to take the green flag and recorded a lap time of 16.343 seconds, good enough to be the 21st fastest lap in the 61-car time trial qualifying. Pending post-qualifying technical inspection, Hoar will start in that position in the 300-lap crown jewel of Super Late Model racing.

Maine driver Austin Theriault posted a lap time of 16.473 seconds, which put him outside of the top 30 guaranteed qualifiers. Theriault will be forced to race in Saturday’s 50-lap Last Chance Qualifier and race his way into Sunday’s event.

Alabama driver Hunter Robbins qualified on the pole position with a lap of 16.212 seconds.

Hometown racer and 2010 Snowball Derby winner Johanna Long qualified second, while young NASCAR Camping World Truck Series standout and All-American 400 winner John Hunter Nemecheck will start third.
