BARRE --
Mike Martin and Jaden Perry came out on top of the Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen and Allen Lumber Street Stock Mini-Milk Bowls while Jason Woodard and Tommy Smith were crowned champions of their respective divisions.

Martin, of Craftsbury Common, grabbed the pole position in Tiger Sportsman time trial qualifying and utilized that starting spot to his advantage as he claimed the win in the first 30-lap segment. A full-field invert saw him start at the rear of thefield, but he clawed his way to an 11th place finish in segment two to claim the overall win with 12 points.

Dylan Payea of Milton snagged the second spot overall with a fifth and eighth place finish for a total of 13 points, while Doug Crowningshield of Barre finished third and tenth in the respected segments to finish third overall.

Jason Woodard bounced back from a troublesome segment number one to finish fourth overall with 15 points, while his championship counterpart Brendan Moodie struggled to work his way through the field in segment two after a runner-up finish in segment one to claim the fifth overall spot.

Rookie driver Caleb Nelson, Chris Pelkey, David Finck, Joe Steffen, and Stephen Donahue completed the top-ten finishers.

Woodard ended the two-segment championship race 17 points ahead of Moodie for the championship. Jeff Bousquet had previously nailed down the third spot in the championship, while Martin used his overall win to jump Dylan Payea for the fourth spot in the standings; Payea held on for fifth.

Jaden Perry celebrates his Allen Lumber Street Stock Mini-Milk Bowl win on Sunday afternoon at Thunder Road IntPerry, of Hardwick, won the first segment of the Street Stock Mini-Milk Bowl and then dodged the carnage of the second segment to finish fourth to post the low point total of five points.

Al Maynard of Fairfax grabbed second overall with a runner-up finish in the second segment combined with his 11th place finish in segment one, while Barre’s Kevin Dodge finished third overall with 14 points. Kyle Streeter of Waitsfield finished fourth overall while Dave Whitcomb of Morrisville completed the top-five overall finishers.

Jeremy Colson and Chris LaForest finished sixth and seventh overall, respectively.

Tommy Smith secured the championship with an eighth place finish overall, but had to wait a few moments to be declared the 2014 champion. After a runner-up finish in segment one, Smith was involved in an incident during the second segment. He has begun to rebound, but mechanical issues relegated him to a 21st place finish in the second segment. However, other top drivers also ran into trouble during the second segment, which allowed Smith to finish eighth overall and claim the championship by ten points over Maynard.

Keith Fortier and Jamon Perry completed the top-ten finishers.

Following Smith and Maynard in the championship were Jaden Perry, Garry Bashaw, and 2013 champion Bunker Hodgdon.

Vermont Motorsports Magazine will have more from the 52nd Annual People’s United Bank Milk Bowl this week.
