The Thermal Control Products “Turn Up The Heat” Award recognizes drivers who have stood out at area short tracks with a big victory or a breakthrough performance. Six drivers will be featured each week, with two finalists entered into a monthly drawing for the grand prize from Thermal Control Products. Each of the two weekly finalists will receive a prize package from Thermal Control Products.

Two weekly finalists will be placed in a monthly pool and will each be awarded a prize from Thermal Control Products. Each finalist will be entered in a pool for the monthly grand prize, as voted on by Vermont Motorsports Magazine staff.

Kevin Boutin -- Renegade 50 winner at Airborne Speedway
Brooks Clark -- First-time Late Model winner at Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl
Shane Race -- Won four-way Sportsman Coupe tie at Bear Ridge Speedway
Chris Wilk -- Granite State Pro Stock Series winner at Twin State Speedway

Shane “Speed Racer” Race posted his second victory of the season in a two-segment Sportsman Coupe feature at Bear Ridge Speedway on August 27. With each 30-lap segment cumulatively scored, Race found himself in a four-way tie with Gene Pierson, Bob Shepard, and Josh Harrington after the final leg. Race’s win in the last segment broke the tie and gave him the overall victory.

Race earned one first-place vote and two second-place votes from Vermont Motorsports Magazine staff to lead the finalists and earn the Thermal Control Products “Turn Up The Heat” Award for August.

Race will be awarded the grand prize: An SFI-certified shifter boot and two rolls of aluminized fiberglass line sleeve -- a total value of more than $130.00 -- from Thermal Control Products.
