Devil’s Bowl Names Bates Pro Late Model Champion

WEST HAVEN -- Devil’s Bowl Speedway has announced via its website that the championship season for the track’s Pro Late Model division is final. Pittsford driver Hunter Bates, 16, will be crowned the division’s champion. Read Full Story

WEST HAVEN -- One of Vermont’s three weekly short tracks is for sale.
Devil’s Bowl Speedway, a paved half-mile track operating in 2011 under NASCAR sanction, is for sale, according to founder and owner C.J. Richards. Richards, 74, built the West Haven facility in 1967 and operates another track, Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, N.Y., under the Champlain Valley Racing Association umbrella. WEST HAVEN -- Ron Proctor has been very good at Devil's Bowl Speedway since the beginning of the 2011 campaign, but sometimes you still need a little bit of luck.
Facing a second-place finish Sunday night, Proctor watched as leader Hunter Bates crashed with a lapped car on the final lap, and then pulled away in a green-white-checker finish to win the 30-lap NASCAR Modified feature at the Bowl. Read Full Story
