BARRE --
Someone walking around the pit area Saturday morning at Thunder Road said “It wouldn’t be the Milk Bowl without some rain.”

Unfortunately, that rain has caused some havoc on Milk Bowl Saturday.

While the radar showed absolutely no rain, a persistent mist for the majority of the morning has forced the delay of the entire day with single car Late Model time trials being scrapped for the more time favorable group qualifying. Time trials began at 2:00pm.

But those group time trials have not been favorable with the weather. Weather has delayed the time trials more than a few times thus far and only 20 cars have taken time on the high banks in the two hours since they started.

Thunder Road officials decided to start all cars in the Tiger Sportsman and Street Stock Mini Milk Bowls, shortening qualifying day. The Late Models will still run the Triple 50 qualifying races to complete the Milk Bowl field.

One change has been made to the Milk Bowl field, however. Officials have decided to not award ACT Castrol Series provisional with only two cars from series north of the boarder attempting to qualify. Those two extra positions will be taken from the non-qualified time trial cars after the Triple 50 qualifiers.

The weather, for now, appears to be holding off as cars circle the track below. In fact, it’s the best the weather has been for the entire day.

Brian Hoar has set the fast time and became the first car since 2007 to break the 13 second barrier. The defending Milk Bowl champion posted a best lap of 12.985 seconds. Thirty-one more cars are set to take time.
